It’s Friday!!! We’ve officially made it. Ha! In celebration of finnnnnallly making it to our coveted weekend, I thought I’d share my favorite skin care + beauty products as of late. I’ve listed all products in the order in which I typically use them.
While I tend to wear very minimal makeup, please note that I am no beauty guru of any sorts, but just sharing what works for me!
MAKEUP REMOVER:// Before I jump in the shower, I will usually put Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water on a cotton pad and sweep it across my face real quick to get any stubborn makeup off. I’m a big fan of this, as it’s not oily like most makeup removers you’ll find and it has a light, water-like consistency.
CLEANSER:// The Philosophy ‘Purity Made Simple’ One-Step Cleanser is a new-to-me cleanser and I could not be more pleased. I have been using it for about two weeks now and can already see a drastic difference in my skin. It leaves my skin feeling clean, balanced, and oh so very soft!
BODY OIL:// Never in a million years would I have thought that lathering myself in oil would produce positive results. However, I stand corrected, as I have total heart eyes for my Bobbi Brown Beach Body Oil. I put this on my arms and legs after I get out of the shower and they are silky smooth by sun rise. I must also say that I. LOVE. the scent. When you think ‘beach’ scent, your mind automatically resonates it with a coconut/pineapple vibe, but this scent channels a more light, crisp, Cape-Cod-esque kind of feel. Although, I’ve never been to Cape Cod, but this is what I’d imagine it to smell like. 😉
TONER:// I received this Elizabeth Arden Toner for Christmas last year, not even knowing what toner is or its purpose, but I have been using it religiously ever since and am just about out. I put this on a cotton pad and swipe it across my face to get ride of any excess makeup or dirt that my face wash may have missed. I’ve heard that the micellar water products can also be used as a toner, but I still prefer to use this one.
MOISTURIZER:// I read about the German Nivea Cream on Summer Wind a while back and have been infatuated with it ever since. Unlike the American Nivea Cream, the German Nivea Cream contains similar ingredients used in the renowned La Mer products. It is a little dense, so I typically only use it at night. I have linked where you can purchase the German Nivea Cream, without having to catch a quick (or not so quick) flight to Germany.
SPF:// Coming from someone who is constantly in the sun, I am totally guilty of not always wearing sunscreen. However, this little gem of a product has made it so, incredibly easy to incorporate sun protection into my everyday routine. Doubling as a primer (#baseformyface), I put my Aveda Daily Light Guard on before I put on the remainder of my makeup. I should also say that it carries a light, pleasant scent, not one that is usually associated with sunscreen, so no worries of smelling (or feeling) like a Coopertone baby.
CC CREAM:// For a dewy look, I use Chanel’s CC Cream in the shade 40 Beige. While it does have great coverage, it never gives you that dreaded cakey look. I find it a great alternative to your usual thick, goopy foundation and because it contains 30 SPF, it allows for maximum protection from Florida’s scorching rays. I’ve also found that it is easier for me to achieve the dewy look when I use my Beauty Blender.
BLUSH:// Y’all, please know that I am a complete blush snob and I could not recommend the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick enough. There are several different shades to help better match different skin tones – I have the shade Rose. Some (most) days, I will just swish this across my cheeks and call it a day, because, well, it’s just that fabulous. It has a subtle, glow that gives your cheek bones an extra oomph and I can’t get enough!
MASCARA:// I have tried a multitude of mascaras, both drug-store and high-end, so I’ve linked several of my favorites below, as I switch it up day-to-day.
Chanel’s Inimitable Mascara Volume:// Okay, so funny store behind this one. My mom and I were in the Apple Store and the woman helping us had the prettiest eyelashes. Naturally, we asked what mascara she used and she told us this one. We left the Apple Store and went straight to Nordstrom to pick it up!
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara:// This is another favorite of mine, as it is super voluminous. It is super black though and does tend to smear if you’re ever in contact with water, so I’d highly recommend getting the waterproof version if you’re planning on taking a dip in the pool.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara:// This is definitely my go-to if I ever go on a trip and forget to bring one of my other’s along with me. It is my favorite drug-store mascara!
LIPS:// I am not one for a bold lip color, because I am quite the ‘Plain Jane’. With that said, I’d have to say that my absolute tried + true lip go-to is the Lip Slip by Sara Happ. It is supposed to be used in combination with Sara Happ’s Lip Scrub, however, I just purchased the Lip Slip singly, as I just wanted a sheer, sheen balm that also hydrates and wasn’t necessarily looking for an exfoliator. However, if you happen to be searching high + low for a great lip exfoliator and hydrator, Nordstrom has an awesome Sara Happ Lip Gift Set available that includes both the Lib Scrub, as well as, the Lip Slip at a discounted rate.
Well, friends, that is the entirety of my skin + makeup routine. It helps to establish a routine, especially with weeks like this one. In the midst of mid-terms and the holiday season fast approaching, I have felt like a complete crazy person. I feel as though I blinked and the semester is almost over (both a blessing + a curse), but in the same token, there’s so much to look forward to – like the Gilmore Girls Revival. November 25th can’t come fast enough!!!
Am I right?!
